Fishbuster Charters Captain Dave Hanson reported, "John Bodner took his two young sons, Beckett and Braxton, ages five and seven, on a near-shore excursion Tuesday, 6/22. They were joined by the boys’ grandfather, John Shelton, along with friend, Patrick Bennett. They had steady action, fishing at the near-shore reefs and other close-in spot , and the boys had fun catching and releasing twenty-one mangrove snapper shorts to 11 ½ inches, along with a brace of 12-inch porkfish, abrace of 13-inch hogfish, four spadefish, and fifteen grunts to 12 inches.
Patrick and Christine Arenz and their three young children fished southern Estero Bay’s backwaters Friday morning, 6/25. The kids had a great time catching a lot of fish. The family caught over thirty mangrove snapper, including eight keepers to 14 inches. They also released three sheepshead shorts. Elizabeth, age five, nearly got a 14-inch flounder boated, but it came off just before she could reel it all the way in. The same thing happened with a 12-inch mojarra. Still, the family ended up with plenty of fish to eat, and some fun memories."
