It will be summer fishing before we know it here in East Central Florida, water is warming after a fun spring of backcountry saltwater catching here on the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. Summer patterns come in gradually over a month or two as spring comes to an end, open water game fish scatter out through the intracoastal waterway after the schooling pattern ends, fun Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish are widespread and regular rod benders through the summer. Bottom fish on the regular catch list include Whiting Pompano, Black Drum and more, Seatrout, Redfish and Snook are always a possibility too in the backwaters. Surprise fish are a usual event on some trips, like this small Tarpon recently, hooked, many jumps, and a quick Photo, Release for Bronson
..
BlackDrum are lurking on the bottom in the backwaters, along channels, inholes and off drop offs, they love shrimp so our usual choice of baitis just right, Jason here visiting from Oregon with a nice one beforereleasing
JackCrevalle are a staple for fun catching, hard fighters, not picky onbait or lures make them one of my favorites for clients catching, Bobfrom New York with a good size one
