LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, 70 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good. The lake is full and the water temperature is 67 to 72 degrees. There is a light stain up the rivers clear on main lake. Start in the middle of the coves and creeks. Work the boat docks and sea walls with small crank baits. Shad Rap and Rat L Traps are the best producers over the past week. Most of the coves and creeks have large schools of bait in them and that is the key to the bass. One lure that is not used much any more that will draw strikes is a rooster tail. Try it around the docks there are time it will out fish the crank baits.

Striper/Hybrid report by Mark Smith of Reel Time guide service. Phone 404 803 0741 reeltime@bellsouth.net

Striper/Hybrid fishing is good. Striper are stacking up in the coves and creeks chasing the large schools of bait. The best fishing has been mid lake over the past week. Live shiners fished on down lines 10 to 20 feet deep have been the best producer. You can also use a Capt. Mack’s umbrella rig to locate the schools. Fish it 100 feet behind the boat at 3mph.

Crappie fishing is good. The fish are in the timber in the mouths of the major creeks, like Sugar and Lick creek. Most of the fish are from 10 to 20 feet deep. Use your Lowrance to locate the schools in the timber and then drop a minnow down to the fish.
