LAKE LANIER IS DOWN .31 FEET, THE MAIN LAKE AND CREEKS ARE CLEAR IN MOST PARTS & 62 DEGREES

Bass fishing is good. There continue to be many options from which to choose out there. You can catch fish from 2 to 50 feet deep and you can also catch them in a number of different places. There are still fish on the brush, and there are fish on rock, on points, and they are starting to show up in creek arm ditches and the backs of creeks as well. Here is a list of some of the baits we have been using over the last week to catch good fish: crank bait, spinnerbait, Davis Shaky Head, Chattahoochee jig, top water, and a jerk bait. In the mornings, we have been focusing on the rock pretty consistently. After that we let the conditions lead us to the best bite and it seems to be different every day. We have had some great catches and big fish over the past few weeks. This is a great time to learn how to fish this key fall transition period on Lake Lanier and to remain successful. I have the following dates open the remainder of the month: 25, 26, 27, 29, and 30. Give me a call and reserve your date NOW!

This Striper report is from Captain Ken West and Captain Mike Maddalena of Big Fish On Service 404 561 2564. www.bigfishonguide.com

Striper fishing remains fair. Not a lot has changed this week. High barometric pressure and clear blue bird skies have been the rule. The fishing has been hit or miss. The fish are moving and you can go out and have a good day and go back to the same spots the next day and cannot find a fish anywhere. There are some fish surfacing on the south end of the lake early in the morning and late in the afternoon but being in the right place at the right time is critical. The problem is the right place could be anywhere. Top water baits have slowed and a one half ounce buck tail with a fluke is a better bet. Keep a Zara Spook tied on and give it a try if you cannot get bit on the buck tail. We are focusing half way back in the creeks with herring and trout on free lines, planner boards and down rods. Vary your depth and distance from the boat and boards. There does not seem to be a consistent pattern. Don't forget the umbrella rig. You can cover a lot of water and they can be very effective when used to clip points. With all the leaves in the water be sure to check your Umbrella rigs often. Flat Creek, Flowery Branch, Shoal Creek, Johnson Creek, Latham and the Clarks Bridge area are all good places to start. The water temperatures are getting colder and should stabilize within the next couple of weeks.
