LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 10.2 FEET, CLEAR & 69 DEGREES

This Lake Allatoona Bass Report is from Matt Driver.

Bass fishing is fair. The latest cold front should actually help the fish after things settle down. Then, cranking a spinner bait bite will show improvement as well as the Scrounger rigged with the 4 inch Big Bite Jerk Shad in pearl. The jerk bait bite is getting better. But we need another 5 to 7 degree change to set it on fire. Some big spots are after the spot sticker crawler head and a Big Bite twin tail crawler jig combination.

Line sides fishing is fair. Most of you know when the bite get slows on Allatoona we move most of my trips to Carters Lake. Well, it looks like we will be able to offer both lakes again. The bite on Allatoona is starting to pick up. The north end of the lake from Little River to Fields Landing is holding a ton of white bass and a few decent stripers. The white bass will hit a 1/2 spoon, Rooster Tail, tiny Fluke and small thread fin shad. The bigger stripers want larger baits. Your best bet for a big fish is to pull bigger baits. Use the large gizzard shad first, and then pull trout. The big schools of smaller hybrids are starting to show back up on the main lake. We have had some reports of big schools of Hybrids in Kellogg's Creek all the way south to Clear Creek. These fish are eating thread fin shad, small gizzard shad and small trout fished on down lines at 18 to 32 feet deep. The water temperatures are getting cold. In a few more weeks throwing a cast net can get deadly. Most of the bait stores have trout in stock. Striper Soup has plenty of fresh shad in all sizes. Trollers are pulling Mack Farr umbrella rigs 120 feet behind the boat at speeds between 2.4 to 3.1 miles and hour. Learn how to use the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology along with the Navionics chip.
