We finally had an opportunity to get on the Lake for a couple of days of fishing this past week. On Tuesday and Wednesday I had the good fortune to fish with some of my regular Customers from Clifton (Bert and Neal) and from Corsicana ( Sam, Steve and Trisha). The cold and windy days we have had for several weeks gave way to a couple of 65 degree, mild and sunny days and we took advantage of them by fishing from mid morning to late afternoon on both trips.
We looked briefly for the White Bass on our Tuesday trip, but the Whites and Hybrids are just not to be easily found ever since the Arctic Blast of a couple of weeks ago lowered the water temps to a cold 48 degrees. Seems that when the water temperature dips this low the White Bass are not only harder to find, but very difficult to catch if you do find them. So we did what we've been doing lately and that is to go Catfishing. The fishing and catching was a bit slower that what we had been experiencing here also, but on both trips we ended up with a nice box of fish and enough for a fish fry! Catfishin' is a slower pace than the White Bassin' but Richland Chambers is known for it's good populations of both Blue and Channel Catfish and they are normally pretty easy to catch. We're using Danny King's Catfish Punch Bait and fishing just off the bottom in 15'-25' water. Just set the Rod/Reel near you, watch the Rod Tip closely and when it barely moves, set the hook! Sometimes you end up with a really Big Blue and then it's GET THE NET!!!
Adam and I have openings over the Christmas/New Years Holiday timeframe and can get you on the Lake to enjoy a day of Fishing. Just give us a call or email and we'll get the Kids out of the House and enjoy some time on the Water!
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and hope to see you soon!
