The Holidays are always a busy time for fishing guides and this year was nodifferent than past years. I was on the water more days than not and havefinally had a break in the charters and that has given me an opportunity to sitand write a fishing report. This report will need to be broken into two parts. There were way too many trips and pictures during the past four weeks for me topost them all in this report.
For the past few years and this year South Florida has experienced summerlike weather during December. Weather like that is not good for Decemberfishing in South Florida because we need the cooler conditions to push themigratory fish into our backyard. We have had these fish at times but it hasnot been consistent. The good thing is we had a front come through yesterdayand another will be here in a few days. That should push more mackerels, bluefish, pompano, big jacks, ladyfish and groupers and snappers into the Bayso my clients can start catching the numbers of fish we are more used tocatching this time of the year in North and South Bay.
Yesterday in Flamingo with cooler weather conditions my clients had goodaction from snappers, jacks, snook and redfish.
In North Bay we have had decent action but no big numbers of fish as of yet.We have caught snook, jacks, ladyfish, bluefish, mackerel, and small kingfishplus snappers and small groupers with warm weather. In late November and earlyDecember we had cooler water conditions and some real nice gag groupers, plentyof mackerel and small kingfish. That action should return after Tuesday.
In South Bay I had one day when we caught a ton of mutton snappers and somenice gag groupers. I have had other trips in that same area with warmerconditions and had no action at all. That also should change after Tuesday.
Offshore we have had mackerel, kingfish, snapper, dolphins and jacks the fewtimes I have been offshore.
lamingo action will get better now that the weather is turning cooler. Big Spanish mackerel, bluefish, pompano, cobias, tripletail and sharks are out in the open water and along the shorelines and in the channels redfish, snook, sheepshead, sea trout and black drum will be biting.
I have open dates and the fishing will continue to be good for some time.
