  • Bitter Cold Winter Almost Over at Richland Chambers!

I know it's way too early to be asking the question, but "DO YOU THINK THE BITTER COLD WINTER OF 2013/2014 IS OVER???" Only in Texas can you wake up to 15 degree weather one day and be fishing in 55 degree weather the next! We actually fished several Spring like days on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this past week, and the long range forecast is much the same for as far out as you can see. Who knows...maybe we will have an early
    Spring!

David Bristow, who helps us in our Guide Service, and I got on the Lake on Thursday to do some scouting and see just how the previous week of really cold and icy weather had effected the fishing. Well, the water temperature had dipped to as low as I've ever seen it in the 20 years I've been fishing RC....44 degrees. There was no indication of a shad kill so this is good news! However, the White Bass and Hybrid Stripers were still no where to be found. This was no surprise as my prediction is that we'll start finding and catching them once we reach and maintain water temps in the low 50's. We switched to Catfishing around Noon and by 3PM had a nice 35 fish box of Blues and Channels to show for our efforts. All fish came on Punch Bait or Chicken Livers fished in timbered areas in 25-30 feet of water.

As the weather warmed to the low 70's on Friday and Saturday, the Catfish bite continued to get better. The afternoon bite was definitely better than the morning. On Saturday, my two person party caught a box of 40 nice Catfish (see enclosed picture), and Adam's three person party had a similar outing. Fishing will only get better as the upcoming week's forecast is for continued warm and unseasonably mild weather!

Winter may not be really over, but for the next few days, get out and take advantage of some wonderful Spring conditions! Adam and I have openings on Tuesday and Friday of this week and most days next week, and would love to show you a good time!

This is the last two week's of our "WINTER SPECIAL" WHEN THREE FISHERMEN FISH FOR THE COST OF TWO!

    Good Luck and Good Fishing!
