Inshore:

We have enjoyed some fantastic weather on the Treasure Coast this week! Bright, sunny skies and light winds have been the norm for us lately. It's great to live in a state that didn't get any snow this winter! Spring is definitely on its way and things should only improve each week. Expect some windy days in the future and enjoy the great fishing action around the area. The sun has warmed the water up in the upper sixties to the low seventies and the fish have been hungry this week.

The best bite around the areas that we have fished this week continue to be black drum, sheepshead and redfish. There are plenty of other species out there to keep your rods bending as well. Ladyfish, jacks, snapper are just a few of the species that are all over the river and lots of fun for the little ones. We have caught a few nice trout and now that the water is warming up, you can expect that bite to improve each day. CAL jerk baits work great on the sea trout. Docks have been very productive for us on a variety of fish. Our redfish are coming from the docks and mangroves. Most are juveniles, but fun to catch. DOA shrimp or CAL paddle tails are super redfish lures. Redfish should be plentiful this year! I had the privilege of seeing lots of familiar faces this week along with making some new friends. We had some exciting days on the water and caught lots of fish!

Don, Art and Sherman were back for another fishing adventure. They found mackerel, sheepshead and a variety of species for a fun filled morning. Russ and Carl found black drum and sheepshead biting along with a redfish bite that landed them 28 juvenile redfish for the morning. Shane and Roxanne found the redfish bite still on and caught 13 juvenile fish along with sheepshead, black drum and other species to top off a morning of fishing. Shane and Marty were out the next day and found bluefish, sheepshead and a nice sea trout along with the usual variety of fish biting. Eric and Tyler were out for a beautiful morning on the river and found redfish, sheepshead, ladyfish and jacks among the species caught that morning. Andy, Stephanie and Will were back again this year. Mom rode along with them to enjoy the morning, too. After a super morning of black drum, sheepshead, jacks and ladyfish, Will just missed a big redfish. They were treated to a show by the dolphins and manatees to top off a great morning on the water. Don, Dee, Sandy and Craig found a bit more wind on their afternoon excursion. They caught sheepshead, trout, snapper and jacks in spite of a windy day. We had an exciting week on the river!

Whiting has been plentiful along the beaches with some pompano, bluefish and jacks mixed in the catch. The inlet and jetties have held Spanish mackerel, jacks, bluefish, snapper and sheepshead for anglers fishing those areas. I've had a number of kids this week and the ladyfish and jacks have provided some fun action for everyone. The action has been good all over the river this week and will only get better in March!
