Lake Cumberland fishing report for feb 25 th 2014. The water temp is 53 in head of creeks an muddy. The main lake is still in lower 40's. The recent rains have added some life to the super cold water of this frigid winter. The bass fishing has been good in the very head of creeks on shallow running crankbaits and spinnerbaits fished shallow in the warmer murky water. Striper fishing has also picked up since the warmer water has shad stacking up in the warmer water. Most days we have had the lake to ourselves do to the cold weather but that will change soon. Fishing on the river has also picked up some. The saugers are still slow but trout fishing has picked up some in the boils. Tons of shad are coming thru the turbines of the dam making for a buffet table for fish but I think the abundance of shad has most fish already full. But if you fish slow and close to the bottom some fish can be caught. Everything is stacking up to be a great spring for fishing. The stripers on the lake are growing and very healthy this year. Look forward to seeing you on the water.
