  • Richland Chambers Fishing Report

The cold, harsh Winter of 2013/2014 appears to finally have given way to Spring and some much needed warmer weather! Green grass (or weeds), Bluebonnets starting to bloom, and Dogwoods blossoming say it's time to enjoy the Outdoors! The morning boat ride is still brisk, but by midday it's shirt sleeve temperatures and really enjoyable.

Richland Chambers Lake is a bit over 7' low, but Fisherman's Point Marina and Oak Cove Marina are easy to launch at, and will be for quite some time. We do need some of those April and May Showers that can get our Lake in better shape for the Summer. Water temperatures are just now beginning to rise and I'm making a prediction that we'll be experiencing a "normal Spring bite" well into May and even June. It's just been so cold that all the fish are thinking it's still Winter.

I'm hearing some first reports of a few Hybrid Stripers and an occasional Crappie being caught. The White Bass have yet to make an appearance, but I really believe this may be the week they turn on! So...we continue to catch LOTS of Blue and Channel Catfish until the others show up. Last week, I managed three trips between the Wind and Cool Fronts and did very well on all of them! A box of 50 plus Keepers was the norm and they sure are great fish fry material! The early morning bite is the best as the bigger fish seem to be feeding in the low light conditions. Danny King's Punch Bait is the ticket to a box of fish!

Adam and my calendar is filled on the Weekends thru mid June, but we have quite a few April and May Weekdays we need to fill. If you'd like to get on the Lake, catch some fish and enjoy Springtime, give us a call @ 903-389-4117, and "We'll Go Catchin'!"
