Summertime has arrived on the Treasure Coast! Lots of blue skies and chances of afternoon rain is the norm this time of year. Mornings has been the best weather for us lately and the winds have calmed down quite a bit on the water. Water temperatures have warmed up into the mid to upper 70's. June promises to be a super month to enjoy the fishing in the area.

Dave and John were out fishing with me and topped off their day with four nice trout on a beautiful morning. George and Ron had lots of bite offs by bluefish, but boated several trout and blues to finish off a good morning trip. Brian and his family were down on vacation and found a good variety of fish to keep the kids busy that morning. Jim, Mike, Sid and Steven had a gorgeous morning to fish and found a variety biting for their morning adventure. Jim and Alan had a nice trout bite on their trip and brought some nice fish home for dinner. Bill boated a nice redfish and trout among other species to give us some fun fishing for the day. I had the grandkids, Chloe and Brody, out with dad, Ricky, for a morning of fun for the kids. Brody caught the most fish with Chloe coming in a close second. We have had lots of excitement on the water!

The mangroves have been very productive for us this past week. Both redfish and trout have been hanging around under the shadow lines. Work a live bait or DOA shrimp around the mangroves for a chance at a slot redfish this time of year. Our trout have been hanging in three to five feet of water on the grass flats. Try DOA shrimp, CAL jerk baits or live bait on the flats. Beware of the many bluefish that have been around lately. They fight hard, but you can expect some bite offs in the process. Expect lots of jacks to be around the areas this time of year. The inlet has had some mackerel, jacks and ladyfish cruising around the glass minnows.

It's been warm out there when the winds die down. Keep plenty of water or Gatorade on the boat along with sunscreen. Keeping hydrated is important throughout the summer months. Sunstroke and sunburn isn't a fun thing to deal with so be prepared ahead of time. Have a fun June on the water!

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it’s an ADVENTURE!
