I’m Bill Boyer and here‘s this week’s Rough River Lake Fishing report.
Water temperature is hovering around 81degrees with the water level
coming in at 4 ft below summer pool. Water Clarity is stained in
the backs of creeks and running clear on the main lake.
Bass are fair and being taken on jigs and texas rigged worms fished
near structure in 6-8 ft of water ,while crank baits and spinnerbaits
fished around 10-12ft of water on primary and secondary points are
producing numbers as well.
Buzz bait and Fluke style lures are the preferred during earlier and
late hours.
With the recent rains and cooler temperatures Crappie are fair to good
and being taken off brush piles and standing timber in 8-10 ft of
water near channels while using minnows and rosy red minnow ‘s with
reports of smaller spinners are effective as well.
Hybrids are fair and being taken on spinners and shiners fished near
the big island and in the mouths of creeks in 8-12 ft of water
Bluegill are still Good! and being taken in 2-4 ft of water around
timber and brush piles with redworms and waxworms
Catfish are fair! and being taken on ledges with Shiners , Bluegill,
and Goldfish with nightcrawlers producing as well.
The tail waters have been producing a few trout being taken on nibbles
and corn.
Anglers are also reporting fair numbers of Hybrid and crappie there
taken on minnows and small spinners.
Bow fishing is good to very good with reports of carp and gar being
taken off mud flats in the creeks and coves.
