Lake Cumberland fishing report for April 14, 2013. The water temp is getting up close to 60 degrees on the surface and the water level is up about 15 ft. They seem to be letting it come up because the river has been low for awhile. The lake level is getting up in the trees which makes for a lot if cover.
Fish off all kinds are up shallow and in the cover.
The stripers have been jumping in schools like I have never seen this time of year which is making for great action. We have been pulling planers from the surface to 25 ft deep in the middle of the creeks. The rising lake has a lot of debris on the water making a windy day welcome because it pushes the debris to one side not in the middle. The bass have been biting in shallow water in the head of creeks and on shallow flats with cover.
The crappie are also in the same water.
The river fishing has been good when they are generating. The white bass ate very strong and the medium sized rainbows are strong in the boils. Both have been caught using minnows.
Good luck and god bless.
