The water temp is right at 50 degrees and fishing has been good for most fish. The crappie have moved up pretty shallow next to cover. Most days they are 5 to 10 ft deep.
The smallmouth have been caught on secondary main lake points on various lures fished from surface to 20 feet. The floating fly method should be good soon if weather stays cold.
The striper fishing has been awesome as long as its not too windy. They are schooled in mid creek from 20 to 60 feet. We are pulling planers and down lines with alewife herring. The herring have been easy to catch all fall and early winter. The fish are mud fat and growing. They have been fighting really good lately also. It should be a great winter for fishing.
I have also been fishing the river for the first time since summer after the last rains. The trout are decent most days fishing the boils. And the sauger has been good fishing minnows close to the bottom in the slack water. I don't know how long we will be able to keep fishing close to the dam so if you are thinking of going you better go while the getting is good.
God Bless
