Today I got out with a Gentleman from Tennessee to try and find a few fish for an upcoming tournament. We did not try any topwater early, just went to the deeper bite right off, and it's still working. The topwater bite would have probably worked very well today considering the fog and the wind. It could have been a great morning for it but our focus was to find some fish that had some quality to them and we only had 4 hrs to do that in. We were able to catch fish on shallow and deep swimbaits in an average of 8-10 ft. of water. The Snag Proof Frog Tournament is coming up on August 6th and if your looking for a great tournament that's run from some great people from Snag Proof and from Goose Pond Bait and Tackle this is the one to get in. The new rule this year is that all frogs will be used the way they were intended to be used, on top of the grass. There will be no weights added to punch thick grass or to use as a carolina rig. The grass is behind from last year, but there are plenty of good thick areas that are holding some good fish for using Snag Proof Frogs. Go to Snagproof.com for more details. Have fun, Mike Carter
