Lake Cumberland fishing report for 8-17-2014. The water temp is in the low 80's and the water is especially clear. The boating season is winding down but the fall fishing season is just starting up. The striper fishing has been good most days with great topwater action. The fish are getting into very large schools on the main lake. We are pulling alewife herring on planer boards from 25 to 60 feet. I am watching for jumps while trolling so it tells where the big schools are. The bass fishing has been fair with some topwater action happening early. The crappie fishing has been good at night under the lights. Guys are anchoring in 30 to 50 feet of water up the major creeks fishing with minnows and jigs. Bluegill fishing has also been fair up creeks on shallow channel bluffs. Crickets and red worms are always good baits. Hope to see you on the water.
