Here's hoping you had a Great Labor Day Weekend and you had an opportunity to enjoy the Outdoors, a High School or College Football Game, a Dove Hunt, or most importantly just a Day Off and Cookout with the Family! Adam and I worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week and are going to have a Family Fish Fry Sunday Afternoon and enjoy a rare Holiday Monday off the Lake!
It was a really weird few days of fishing as the Summer bite continues to be very inconsistent! Thursday, my two person Party had another tough but typical Summer morning where we had 23 Keeper White Bass and lots of small throwbacks. Friday, we had a 9 person Family Group join us and after twenty minutes of fishing had a two hour rain delay. We got back out on the Lake after the T-Storm moved off, but the fish were no where to be found. The two boat Group finally called it off after about three hours and 17 fish. I decided to switch to Catfish on Saturday while Adam had a Dad/Son combo wanting to catch White Bass and learn the Lake. Well....the Catfish bite was hot and heavy but mostly small ones, and Adam was catching White Bass. My Group switched to Whites and we had a respectable day! Adam's twosome limited out with 50 fish and my Group had 57 White Bass and Cats! Every Summer we go through a period like the one described above where one day the fishing is about as poor as it gets and the next day, you feel like the best Guide on the Lake. We call it going from ZERO to HERO! Oh well....it will soon be Fall and we'll all be HEROES!!!
Check out the Windsock Point and the 309 Flats for early AM White Bass School Fish. Mid morning start working the Points and Drop Offs with Slabs. And by Noon, get off the Lake, clean your fish and get a nice nap as it's still too hot for the Afternoon bite. Crappie are hit and miss on the Brush Piles, but small minnows and some patience will result in a fish fry. Drop some sour maize in 10'-15' water around timber and you'll bring in the Channel Catfish and can catch them on Danny King's Punch Bait. The fishing may be a bit slow, but the Mornings are enjoyable and what better place to enjoy a beautiful Summer Day than Richland Chambers!
We have lots of Weekday Openings and a Saturday or two open in the next few weeks. Give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'!
