  • Richland Chambers Fishing Report - TX

The calendar may say it's still Summer, but it sure feels like Fall! Most years it's just the opposite with September temps well into the 90's and sometimes we're still hitting triple digits in October! It just doesn't get much better than this recent weekend with lows in the 50's and highs in the 70's! All we need now is some much needed rain as the weather man missed the forecast the past couple of days and the rain skipped us completely.

If the Fall like weather pattern holds, here's what we can expect to happen:

*The White Bass and Hybrid Striper bite should go from almost non-existent to very good as the water temperature cools into the 70's and then eventually into the mid 60's. Check out the 309 Flats early and then hit the Main Lake Points, Pelican Island and the Hwy 287 Roadbed. Always keep a Rat-L-Trap or Sassy Shad handy, but most fish will come on 1 oz. Slabs in Silver or Chartruse. You can't beat RSR Slabs ( www.rsrlures.com ).

*Crappie fishing is normally very good in late September and October. Small minnows over Brush Piles and around Bridge Columns in 15'-20' water should get you a nice Fish Fry!

*Catfishing goes from good to very good in the Fall, and then to EXCELLENT in the Winter! The fish will move into the heavy timbered areas up the Richland Creek in 20' water and be there all Winter. Danny Kings Punch Bait on a #4 Treble Hook is the key to success!

As many of you know, I've always said Fall (specifically November and December) is my FAVORITE time of the year! The fish are aggressive, they're big, there's no one on the Lake, and it just doesn't get any better than that! Give us a call and we'll go fishin'!
