    Water Temp is 73

If you’re planning to fish the southern end of Kentucky Lake then you will want to be fishing the grass beds. The grass has done great this year and with it the big fish are cruising around looking for shad. I have been fishing the flats south of Paris Landing that’s where you will have to go to find the best grass. Most of my fish have been on the flats adjacent to some type of ditch or creek. This type of area seems to be holding the bigger fish. Top water seems to be the key to catching most of the bass for me right now and I look for this to be true thru September and October. You will just have to put in what I call your dirt time and that’s to keep moving till you find a school of fish feeding in the grass.

The best bait right now for me is a Sammy or a Zara Spook, both lures have been working and in both sizes jr and super spook. I am varying my retrieve from a slow walk to a faster fleeing walk. I depend on a 6ft 9in Cashion medium heavy rod. I like the shorter rod because it allows me to keep my rod tip down and get a walking action easier with my lure. I’m using 20 lb Bass Pro Shops monofilament and Seaguars Braid. Other top water that I’m catching fish on is a Rico custom painted by Bag5 baits in blue glimmer I’ve caught some bigger fish on this bait.

A few other lures to have tied on is Chatter bait, Rat L Trap and a swimbait. It depends on the daily weather condition.

Ledge and Electronics Class, on the water!
Learn and get confidence by catching fish on the ledges
If you’re new to Kentucky Lake or just haven’t been able to figure out how to fish the hundreds of miles of ledges that it has to offer. Then this class is for you. Fishing the ledges is something a lot of anglers struggle with. Understanding what ledges hold fish, when they hold fish and why they hold fish is something I can teach you. I will help you eliminate 90% of the lake in a short time. See what type of areas hold fish and how to find the bait.
Get on schools of fish and get them fired up! This is some of my favorite techniques on this amazing lake. Just give me a call or email me at
