Fall is definitely here in South Florida and you can feel it in the air. Water temperatures dropped a few degrees overnight and the baitfish schools are moving into North and South Bay in huge numbers. Already our snook, tarpon, sea trout, jack crevalles, ladyfish, snappers, sharks and barracudas are feeding on this baitfish. Any moment we will see Spanish and juvenile king mackerel plus bluefish and pompano rubbing shoulders with our residential fish. Now is the time to get into the action!

North Bay is finally waking up and the fishing in the Bay will get better each day! Just yesterday I witnessed a three pound black drum swimming along a sea wall, something I haven’t seen in many years.

South Bay will see a return of snapper and grouper in the channels and mackerel and bluefish in the open waters.

Offshore kingfish in the six to 15 pound range have been biting almost every day. Dolphins, blackfin tuna and sailfish are joining in with the kingfish as they feed on the migrating baitfish. Yellowtail and mutton snappers are biting on the bottom.

And in Flamingo snook and redfish, sea trout, snappers and many other species are enjoying the cooler temperatures in Everglades National Park.

    Let’s go fishing!

    Miami Fishing Forecast:
    South Florida Fishing Forecast:

Fall is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. As more and more baitfish schools push into our waters more and more predators will be following and feeding on these baitfish giving my clients plenty of opportunities at some great catches. I look for snook, tarpon, mackerel, large jack crevalles, large ladyfish, snappers, groupers, sea trout, barracudas and more to feeding from sunrise to sunset in North Bay. South Bay will see plenty of action from snapper and groupers as well as mackerel, bluefish and pompano. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park we will see the return of all of the migratory birds as they fill the park and make unbelievable sunrise pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, snapper, sea trout, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as e exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for.
