Fishing offshore of Miami/Miami Beach has been a mixed bag of several different species. The list includes kingfish, bonito, sailfish, dolphin, blackfin tuna, tripletail, and shark. The fish have been scattered and requires a lot of searching. To accomplish this we have turned to trolling planers and spoons and then live baiting.

Dolphin fishing has been requiring some pretty healthy runs offshore, especially on the days with westerly type winds. Most of our action has been on weed lines that have life under them. Finding a large floating object will also improve your chances for success. Bird activity has been very scarce for us.

Brad, Steve, and Jordan worked the planers to catch kingfish, bonito, and blackfin tuna on their trip. The bites came in the 110 - 390 foot range.



The trip with Peter, Randy, and James started off with a cero mackerel. It progressed to a run offshore looking for dolphin. We found several very thin scattered lines while running out 21 miles. As we were heading back in, I spotted a floating pallet. It had several large tripletail and numerous barjacks under it. The dolphin showed up along with several sharks. When it was time to head in, we had 5 dolphin and 1 tripletail added to the fish box along with the cero mackerel. We also caught and released 4 sharks and at least that many barjacks.





The trip today with Brad had us both trolling and live baiting. The bait caught a bonito, shark, and bluerunner. Trolling caught another bluerunner and small kingfish. We got slammed by a rain storm and called it a day.

We are beginning to have more fronts come through our area. With each of these fronts, the fishing will improve more and more. Consistent sailfish action is right around the corner. Evening tarpon fishing with light up in the next month to two. Now is the time to start thinking about booking a trip. The earlier you book, the more likely you'll get the date you want.
