The most asked question of Adam and me for the past month is "Where are the White Bass and Hybrid Stripers?" It's been a really unusual early Fall in that we've had little to no reports of anyone catching any White Bass. It's been so slow that all the Full Time Guides are fishing for either Catfish or Crappie, and just waiting for that Fall Feeding Frenzy associated with White Bass to kick in gear. I blame it on several things and that includes...(1) Fall has yet to arrive as we still have air temps in the 90's and water temps in the 70's, (2) A totally unusual year as we had the coldest Winter/Spring Seasons in many years, a mild Summer and now a warm Fall, and (3) Our White Bass population is probably at a low point for RC as we've had three Spring Seasons with little to no rains and no running water in the Creeks for the fish to move up into and spawn. Still, I believe we have a good population of Whites and Hybrids out there somewhere in our 45,000 acre lake as evidence by the huge schools of fish we were catching limits from earlier this year!

While we continue to wait and see if the White Bass make a Fall appearance, we'll just fill the boat with Catfish. We fished everyday except for one this past week and had fair to good trips every outing! The Channel and Blue Cats are on an early morning aggressive bite in the timbered areas of Richland Creek. We're catching our fish in 12' to 18' water on a # 4 treble hook baited with Danny Kings Punch Bait. Just drop the bait to the bottom and watch that rod tip as it's often a very subtle bite. Set the hook and the fight is on! And equally exciting is that most folks will agree that a catfish fish fry is about as good as it gets!

If you'd like to get in on the action, give us a call or email and we'll enjoy a great Fall day on the water!
