    The lake is at 354.55
    Water Temp is 55-57

Water temperatures keep dropping with the cold weather we have been having. It’s actually is making the bite better as the bass sense winter is coming they go on a heavier feed. Still catching good 3 ½ to 2 ½ pound bass mainly and I look for the bigger bass to start moving in and feeding on the shad. A lot of the grass beds I’m fishing still have big gizzards shads in them as they spook while fishing the areas. This is a good sign and is why these bass will stay in the area until the water temps drop and pushes them out. Spinnerbaits are still producing the best for me I’m using one I make a 1/2ounce white/blue glimmer with tandem willow blades. Chatter style baits are also working; these two baits come thru the grass and it’s just what’s triggering the bites. When they hit they’ve been hammering it. I’m using a trailer hook always and fishing a 7ft Cashion rod with a Lews Reel spooled with 20lb Seaguar AbrazX Flourocarbon line.
There still some fish to be caught on the sparser grass ridges on a Rat L Trap in shad patterns, I am fishing it on 14lb Fluorocarbon and a 7ft medium stiff Cashing rod. I prefer the rod to be a little stiffer because when my trap hits the grass patch I need the extra stiffness to rip it free from the grass, this quick is the key to getting bites or no bites at all.

I still feel that our best fall bite is to come here on Kentucky Lake. Some of the best fishing is when the water temps are between 50 and 55 degrees. I look for swim baits and jerkbaits to come into play soon.

Ledge and Electronics Class, on the water!
Learn and get confidence by catching fish on the ledges
If you’re new to Kentucky Lake or just haven’t been able to figure out how to fish the hundreds of miles of ledges that it has to offer. Then this class is for you. Fishing the ledges is something a lot of anglers struggle with. Understanding what ledges hold fish, when they hold fish and why they hold fish is something I can teach you. I will help you eliminate 90% of the lake in a short time. See what type of areas hold fish and how to find the bait.
Get on schools of fish and get them fired up! This is some of my favorite techniques on this amazing lake. Just give me a call or email me at
