  • Kentucky Lake Fishing Report - KY

    The lake is at 356.41
Water Temp is in the mid 40’S

Fishing on Kentucky Lake has been steady catching some big fish on A rigs and swim baits. I am focusing on main lake ledge and inside the mouths of creeks. I’m looking for current breaks because there’s been a lot of current on the lake. I am also fishing a jerk bait in shad patterns.

A lot of fish are in 10 to 20 foot of water. Some day’s one bait is better than the other due to the weather patterns changing so much. On the colder days the jerk bait or swim bait is best because the fish are not as aggressive. But if there’s a good warming trends with several days of nice weather the A rig is working better. I am using Elite Pro Baits 1/4ounce head on a ZOOM super swimming fluke, white pearl and Crazy Chrome has been best. On the swim bait I’m using a 5 inch hollow body in Tennessee shad. I fish my A rig on a Cashion Swim bait rod and a Lews reel. The swim bait I will use a 7ft heavy action Cashion rod with 20 lb test Seaguar Fluorocarbon. With the jerk bait I like 10 to 14 lb fluorocarbon and a 6ft 9 inch rod. It’s important to pay attention to the depth your seeing the bait in and also the schools of bass. I depend on my Lowrance structure to find these fish and it would be hard to do it without them. Also if your fishing Kentucky Lake this time of year it’s very important to have a good detailed chip in your lowrance.

If you don’t like to fish the ledges on Kentucky Lake then I would recommend using a crawfish pattern Rat-L Trap and a jig and fish some of the deeper chunk rock shorelines in the mouth of the creeks.

Learn and get confidence by catching fish on the ledges
If you’re new to Kentucky Lake or just haven’t been able to figure out how to fish the hundreds of miles of ledges that it has to offer. Then this class is for you. Fishing the ledges is something a lot of anglers struggle with. Understanding what ledges hold fish, when they hold fish and why they hold fish is something I can teach you. I will help you eliminate 90% of the lake in a short time. See what type of areas hold fish and how to find the bait.
Get on schools of fish and get them fired up! This is some of my favorite techniques on this amazing lake. Just give me a call or email me at
