LAKE HARTWELL IS UP 1 FOOT OVER FULL POOL. THE MAIN LAKE IS CLEAR AND 84.7 DEGREES, THE BACKS OF CREEKS ARE SLIGHTLY STAINED AND 88.2 DEGREES
This Lake Hartwell Bass report is from Rick Steckleberg of Sworming Hornet Lures.
Bass fishing is good and our fish remain all over from shallow to deep. The top water bite remains solid with spooks in clear or chrome and pearl white flukes being best. The New Bite Size Herring Swim bait in the blue back herring color worked fast on fish, especially early in the morning, has also been very successful. If there is some wind this technique can be successful all day. If not, switch to a drop shot worm in green weenie as well as a green pumpkin craw jig for numbers. A Fish Head Spin in albino continues to work well also. Back in the creeks, we have had good luck with a swim jig in bluegill color and a black popping frog next to shore line cover. Look for pockets with a little deeper water that has a lot of submerged grass. Throw your swim jig next to the shore or cover and just swim it back with a hopping retrieve and they will bust it.
