    The Big G.

Went out for a couple of hours with some luck. And luck it was, after hibernating all week it was like starting over.

What I like to do when its been a few days since I last fished and the weather had some major swings in it. I like to keep it simple and let the fish tell me whats going on.
Fish the grass and cover a range of depths, I like to start on the outside grass lines and work my way in, when i get a bite i'll kick out a marker or hit a waypoint and at that moment I lock down in my head what I was doing right before the fish ate my lure. Was I reeling slow, fast, paused.... These things matter.
Lets say you've been fishing the grass with out a single bite (it happens) if they are not in the grass they must be on something HARD like rocks head to the nearest cause way and start cranking I like to use a SPRO Little John start making cast on the rocks paralleling them. If no bites i'll start making 45 degree cast and after the crank bait stops banging the rocks i'll pause it several times on the way back to the boat more times then not thats when you'll get a bite. The Little John will just sit there suspended like a Jerk Bait. Well if they are suspended then out comes the SPRO McStick and once you dial in the cadence of how many jerks to a pause you can load the boat with big ones.

Today was a Little John day on the rocks it appears that we had a small shad kill over this past week the birds dove the whole time I was out feeding on tiny bait that was about dead and the Little John Crank Bait was the trick. The bite was slow you had to reel it off the rocks and stop it to get a bite. It felt good to get out.
