Adam and I haven't fished much lately due to the Cold and Wind, but when the weather turned off Spring like this past week I was able to get out with my friend and parttime Guide David Bristow. We put together a 50 fish limit of really nice Blue and Channel Catfish in an outing on Thursday and then did almost the same on Friday. The warm 60 degree temperatures and the light South Wind made the fish really aggressive. Even better is the fact that we caught most of our fish in the coves just West of Fisherman's Point Marina. We didn't have to run all over the Lake looking for fish or make the long trip up the Richland Creek Arm where we had been catching most of our fish.
The Catfish continue to be in or near the timbered areas and on most days can be caught in 20' to 30' of water. We're using Danny King's Blood Punch Bait on a # 4 treble hook with a small weight about 6" above the hook. The Catfish will be on or near the bottom much if the time. While we are catching "Eaters" or fish in the 1lb. to 3lb. range most of the time, it's not unusual to hook into a really BIG BLUE that will weigh well over 30lbs.!
During the remainder of JANUARY and ALL of FEBRUARY, we'll be offering a "WINTER TIME SPECIAL OFFER" where three fishermen can fish for the two person rate. Just reference the "SPECIAL" when you call and we'll save you some $'s! I'd appreciate you sharing this with anyone you think might want to enjoy a nice day and catch some Catfish!
