  • Richland Chambers Fishing Report - TX

It's February and Wind and Weather tend to be the main culprits in making a decision to cancel or reschedule a Fishing Trip! Saturday was a good example of once again NOT LISTENING TO THE WEATHERMAN'S FORECAST of a mid morning arrival of a Cold Front with strong winds, rain and falling temperatures. One of my longest and regular Wintertime Customers (Joe Reedy and Son Chris) were scheduled for a 9AM trip and it looked like there would be no way to conduct a fun trip! Chris had even invited a couple of his buddies who had never fished much but were raring to go. Well... we decided to go for it and planned to fish certain areas that were protected from the strong winds that were supposed to hit late morning.

Long story short is that it was about as perfect a February day for fishing as you could ask for. A great Cloud Cover, North Winds at around 10-12 MPH, Temperatures in the 50's, and even though we need the rain, it never came! Oh yea, the fish bit all morning long with lots of action on the smaller Channels and Blues. We didn't have any of the BIG BLUES like we'd caught recently, but still the Guys went home with fish filets for supper and an unusual catch to tell about. One of the young fishermen caught an Albino Catfish and after getting a picture and releasing the fish, he googled it and found how rare Albinos are. One in every twenty thousand catfish is an Albino!

Looks like this next week will be one where we'll cancel a few trips, maybe fish in the cold a day or two and hopefully get a couple of inches of rain to raise the Lake a bit! It's time to reserve that Spring Break date if you want to get the Kids on the lake. We have a few open Weekdays during the School Break period, but all our Saturdays are booked in March. Give us a call and we'll get you on the calendar!
