LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 5.7 FEET, STAINED & MID 50’S DEGREES

Bass fishing is great. Bass are feeding, and the spawn should be underway within the next few weeks. This is the time of year that whatever your favorite made his chances are bass are eating it. Right now numbers are up. We are catching fish on spinner baits jerk baits Alabama rigs and crank baits. The spinnerbait has been great for main lake points, but a breeze is needed to enhance the bite. The A Rig tipped with 3.5 inch big bite cane thumpers is being uses whenever a school of fish is located. Slow reel it. The jerk bait is one of the best search baits right now. The Spro McStick in ghost minnow fished vigorously is a fun way to fill a limit. Fish are still scattered but are becoming more consistent. Keep an eye out for schooling fish. They are spastic, the action is great when they come up chasing.

Line side fishing is good. The lake is coming alive. There have been some good reports from both the north end and south end the last few days for good numbers of hybrids, stripers and white bass. The better bite has been on small gizzards and threadfin shad, as well as small trout fished on free lines and planer boards. Both ends of the lake are holding decent numbers. The south end of the lake seems to be better for hybrids, while the north end of the lake seems to be fishing better for stripers and white bass. We look for most of the fish to migrate north by the first of April and start staging for their annual spawn run. Look for these fish to stage between Little River and Fields Landing before and even after the run. April is one of the best months of the year to fish Allatoona.
