  • Lake Fork Fishing Report - TX

This has been a typical up and down season. Water was cold and 7ft low in February. In March, it came up 4 feet and muddied up most of the lake. By the end of March, fish started moving up on the beds in the clearer areas. Now, the lake is looking good and we're seeing quite a few good fish on the beds. As I write this report, the lake is 3ft low and it is raining and supposed to rain all day long. I expect this will bring the lake up enough to trigger another wave of spawning bass to the banks.

Last week was our best week yet. We got several fish over 8 pounds, including a 10.5# and a 11.25# bass. I got both on video. If I get time today, I'll post to my Facebook page. If not, it should be soon. Be sure to keep up with the Facebook page, because I don't have time to make reports. I'm booked solid through the first week of May.

May is becoming my favorite month of the year. In previous years, I would take the last 2 weeks of May off for vacation. The last couple of years, I decided to wait until the fishing slowed down in July. Last year, May was my best month. And as the pros proved by setting a 3 day record of 110 pounds, May can be an awesome month. I can usually find bedding bass any day in May. But in May you can catch fish on basically any method you like. And white bass is always an option too. So May is probably the best month of the year for taking a beginner or child.

June is my favorite month for night fishing. Book your May or June trip now!

Right now, we are catching almost 100% of our fish on beds. Be sure to check out my book on sight fishing for bass at http://www.bassfishing.org/spawnbook
