All this rain has given much of the lake that coffee with cream color which I personally don't mind. Water temps down by the dam are around 55 and 53 mid lake and up to 56 in the obey.
The walleye spawned 4 weeks ago up the Obey river and about two to three weeks ago all the way down to the dam. Night fishing has improved as has trolling during the day.
The smallmouth are now on bed and pre-spawn fishing has been excellent over the past couple of weeks throwing cranks and dragging shiners in staging areas.
Muskies are also on bed and very difficult to catch right now. Fishing for them should improve in late April and May when they move out.
Trout are scattered and shallow. Trolling cranks and spoons should put some in the boat. I use larger baits to avoid the newly stocked.(6 to 8 inchers)
Crappie are staging and should be on bed soon.
Largemouth and spots are being caught shallow and down to 25 foot or so.
