Biologists recently stocked the Lake Chicot Nursery Pond near Lake Village with 71 pre-spawn crappie from Lake Chicot and 60 supplemental crappie from the AGFC hatchery system to spawn where their fry can grow without predation from other species. The pond should produce about 100,000 young-of-the year crappie that will be released into Connerly Bayou in the fall.
