Muskie fishing is still slow but is right around the corner from being on fire. They should be on by the first week of May.
Smallmouth fishing is fair but will improve soon in the coming weeks with the big females moving out into open water. May and June will bring some of the hottest daytime smallie action all year.
The trout are making a good comeback after the fish kill near five years ago and trolling is improve in both size and numbers.
Trolling for channel cats is the best it will be all year and should last through May. Not only are they some of the hardest fighters in the lake but out of Dale Hollow's pristine waters, they make great table fare whether fried or my personal favorite, grilled.
