Fishing continues to improve as the water warms and rises. The temps are in the low 60's on the whole lake and the debris has cleared for the most part which makes trolling easier.
The smallmouth are still in tight for the most part but a few have moved out are being caught on crank baits. The bite should improve drastically in the coming weeks.
Walleye bite is still fair day and night. The water needs to warm to the upper sixties for the bite to heat up.
Muskie fishing is Muskie fishing right now (slow) with a few being caught post spawn, shallow. As a guide for muskies in Dale Hollow, May is the last realistic time to catch them until the fall. That being said we do catch a few during the summer months.
Trout fishing is improving both day and night and should be hot by the middle of May with several nice ones being caught already.
The best bite on the lake right now is trolling for pre spawn channel catfish. They are probably the hardest fighters in the lake and with Dale Hollow's pristine waters, they make incredible table fare. This bite should be good through most of May. While trolling for them we've also caught walleye, smallmouth and trout.
