    The lake is at 359.30
Water Temp is in the 70

It’s May already and the bass have finished an up and down spawning season.
The fish are on a slow move out towards the ledges. I’ve caught fish several ways and feel next week will be the same. I’ve been able to catch them with top water early the first hour and then had to slow down with swim baits, spinnerbaits, Carolina, finesse worm or drop shot rig. The bass are simply moving out.

It’s a little slow out there but great fishing is right around the bend. When the bass move out on the ledges they will be grouped up and ready to hunt!

I really think in about another week we will see great fishing again on Kentucky Lake.

The fish are in transition time and are spread out and stressed from the spawning season, this is very typical of post spawn bass. The truth is an angler will have to either cover a lot of water but once you catch a couple slow down, and then move on. What I mean by that is the bass are in smaller groups. So I haven’t been spending a lot of time in one area. As far as areas, I’ve caught fish in 1foot of water all the way out to the main river ledges. We’ve had fish spawning since the first week in April.

For a few patterns to try are a shakey head and ZOOM finesse worm, medium running crankbaits in 8 to 10 feet of water, try top water early buzzbaits and popping baits. Back in the flats wit grass or the yellow flowers that remaining.

Learn and get confidence by catching fish on the ledges
If you’re new to Kentucky Lake or just haven’t been able to figure out how to fish the hundreds of miles of ledges that it has to offer. Then this class is for you. Fishing the ledges is something a lot of anglers struggle with. Understanding what ledges hold fish, when they hold fish and why they hold fish is something I can teach you. I will help you eliminate 90% of the lake in a short time. See what type of areas hold fish and how to find the bait.
Get on schools of fish and get them fired up! This is some of my favorite techniques on this amazing lake. Just give me a call or email me at
