Well, it's Summer in Texas and the Richland Chambers Fishing Pattern has set in for the next couple of months! Unlike the Spring or Fall, the Summer Pattern really isn't a consistent pattern of " Finding the fish in the same location day after day and basically fish biting at the same times each day". The pattern for July thru September is one of "Top Water Schooling fish most mornings and on some days having BIG SCHOOLS OF BIG FISH (Hybrids and White Bass) and on other days finding only small schools of small fish"! We continue to fish six days a week and the past couple of weeks, we can honestly say that we haven't located the fish in the same area of the lake two days in a row. We continue to catch fish but sure burn a lot of gas on most days!
It's always a good idea to check out the Hwy 309 Flats early in the morning for some Hybrid Striper action. One day last week we had 7 Hybrids landed in the first 30 minutes of the day. The next day we returned to the same location and found no fish at all. Try casting the 3" Sassy Shad swim bait if you do happen to find a school of big fish that are feeding as they love this bait! As mentioned, the White Bass are literally all over the lake most mornings. One day they are on the South Shoreline from Fisherman's Point to Ferguson Point and the next day they are near the Spillway Gates on the North Shoreline. Keep a Tiny Torpedo or RSR Tail Spinner ( www.rsrlures.com ) handy and you'll catch these Schoolies!
Summertime fishing can be fun if you get on the lake early, catch your fish and be back at the Marina around 10:30 or 11AM. We've been fortunate to get a little rain and cooler temps lately and the mornings are pleasant with a light South Breeze most days! There's still several weeks before the Kiddos have to start back to School, Summer Vacations are still happening and there's fish to be caught! So give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'!
