Fishing offshore has been good! Fishing in North Bay has been good. Fishing in Flamingo is about to take off and fishing in the freshwater canals of the Everglades very good!
    Offshore

    North Bay

    Flamingo
Flamingo fishing is about to take off. Baitfish schools are flooding the coast north of East Cape. Snook, redfish, tarpon, jacks, sawfish, sharks and tripletail are all feeding on the baitfish schools.

I had an off day yesterday and fished Flamingo with my son. We caught more baitfish then we knew what to do with. Pinfish, pilchards, threadfin herring, ballyhoo, giant glass minnows and finger mullet. We turned those baits into loads of sea trout, pompano, jacks, bluerunners, sharks, a giant sawfish, 8 tripletail, over 12 snook, redfish, ladyfish and three tarpon. Of course catfish too. Two Backcountry Slams and a Grand Slam!No pictures from yesterdays trip for now!

    Freshwater
The water levels continue to drop in the canal systems of the Everglades Conservation areas. Largemouth and peacock bass, pickerel, bluegills, Oscars and lots of cichlids are competing for the same baitfish. On a recent outing in the Glades fishing for fun I had over 50 largemouth bass with close to 25 between 1 and 3.8 pounds caught on Rapala floating minnows and Trigger X soft plastics. Along with a few gars and lots of panfish the total catch for me was close to 80 fish. This kind of fishing will only get better for the next month before the water levels start to rise.

Spring is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. With water temperatures rising sea trout and snook will start their spawning seasons. Bigger fish and bigger numbers of fish! Spanish mackerel, bluefish and kingfish are heading north for the summer. As they pass the Miami area they always provide a months' worth of action. Big jack crevalles will be chasing baitfish schools in North Bay and big tarpon will be stealing baits intended for other fish. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park we will see the return of all of the migratory birds as they fill the park and make unbelievable sunrise pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, snapper, sea trout, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as e exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for. When the freshwater levels drop in the Everglades Conservation areas the largemouth bass stack up in the canal systems providing 100 fish days.

    Target Species:
Largemouth Bass, Snook, Sea Trout, Redfish, Cobia, Dolphins, Sailfish more!
