Hot Spots of the Week: Large schools of spotted bass and white perch are suspended over deep water points and under water humps. The better fishing seems to be in water thirty to sixty feet deep. While deep jigging and slow trolling live baits is best. Some are having success trolling Alabama-rigs and large roadrunners fished in tandem. On occasion striped bass and hybrids are also in the mix.
Lake Conditions: The surface water temperature varies by location, but is mainly in the high eighties and low nineties in open waters not affected by power generation. The water level is about 3.2 feet below full pond on Lake Norman and 2.8 feet below full on Mountain Island Lake.
