  • Started in January 2014, Todd's Custom Lures was created to fill a desire to build my own lures and offer them to avid fishermen that are as crazy about it as I am. I hand-pour these lures and build them in my backyard shop. Other companies may offer similar services, but our services are the best, and come with a personal touch. I have since added my services as a guide on world famous Weiss Lake "Crappie Capital of the World" and provide lasting memories of chasing bass, crappie and striper. Give me a call or email and let me show you what Weiss Lake has to offer!

  • Weiss Lake Bass Report - Alabama

Weiss Lake is still hovering around full pool with water temps in the mid to upper 80's which is about right for the Dog Days of Summer! With the hotter temps and longer days, a good number of fish are being caught offshore on the humps and ledges Weiss provides anglers. We've been fortunate to locate a few good fish using swimbaits out deep, especially when the current is being generated. The most productive bait for me this week was a 4.75" swimbait that I poured and fished on a 1oz shimmy down from Todd's Custom Lures.

A good friend of mine was also trying out some baits I made for him and was successful on Weiss this week. He kept locations close to the vest but provided proof in the pictures!

Weiss Lakes many docks also provide much needed shade for big bass. I tend to target them with one of my Bass Nabber Craws with a pegged 1/4oz tungsten bullet weight. Best color so far has been watermelon red

Hope you have enjoyed this report and keep your lines tight out there! I have dates available so feel free to give me a call or email and set up a trip today!
