Fishbuster Charters' Captain Dave Hanson reported, "Friday, 7/24, through Monday, 7/27 brought nothing but heavy downpours to the area, and I cancelled all of my planned fishing excursions.
Wednesday morning, 7/29, we were still dodging a few scattered showers, when I fished in Estero Bay’s backwaters, north of Broadway Channel, with Bill Parks, son, Eric, and seven-year-old granddaughter, Olivia. The family had a good time using live shrimp top catch twenty mangrove snapper, including five keepers to 11 inches.
Thursday brought more rain and rough seas around the thunderstorms. I rescheduled my planned offshore trip for the following week. Friday, the rain was mostly north of us, but sea conditions weren't pleasant or safe for my scheduled family of six to head offshore. With heavy surf and rip currents in the mix, we cancelled that trip also."
1.) Anglers Larry Jack and Ernie Morrison with an 39-inch snook that bit both their hooks simultaneously, caught on shrimp and released in Estero Bay on a recent inshore Fishbuster Charter.
2.) Young angler Riley Rohde with a 14-inch lane snapper, caught on shrimp 20 miles west of New Pass on a recent offshore Fishbuster Charter.
