Lake Cumberland fishing report for Sept 1st 2015.
The surface temp dropped back to about 80 degrees and is slowly falling back to normal.
The striper fishing has been really good lately with a lot of quality fish showing up most days. We have been catching stripers on the main lake from 40 to 80 feet deep on down lines mainly. Alewifes are only living on the hook about 20 minutes so we have not been putting out many planers boards because we can only carry so much bait. And if you are not careful you will run out of bait before you find the fish. Early morning they have been in open water then they are laying in 55 to 70 feet of water usually close to deep water.
I have not heard of much crappie fishing going on but bass fishing has remained good all summer.
And channel catfish have been in abundance this year with everyone catching them. From bluegill fishing on bank to striper fishing in middle of main lake. The best time of year is soon approaching with cooler days in the forecast. Time to get out and enjoy great fall days, either in the woods or on the water.
God bless
