Weather: After a cool week last week it’s been a typical summer pattern here around the lakes this week with warm humid conditions. We will have a cold front push through Tuesday bringing some storms and cooler fall like with it. The weekend looks awesome with highs in the mid 90’s and plenty of sunshine to enjoy the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Bass Fishing: Well there’s no reason to sugar coat it when it’s bad it’s bad not every month is like June here on the lakes. There were a some nice bags weighed for the USA Bassin night tournament this past weekend but they dropped rapidly after the top 5. For the most part we’ve really had to work slow and methodical with Carolina rigs and shaky heads along main river and secondary ledges. The schools have dwindled down and are so spread out it’s hard to pin them down. We have caught a few fish here and there slow rolling a spinnerbait along some main river ledges which has caught some of our better fish. We did get on to a swimbait bite Tuesday while filming the Stren Lines – Drop a line contest with some suspended fish on secondary ledges with swimbaits these were the best fish of the week but only last a couple hours. I did manage to catch one good one Weds after film crew left…pic below. The days are getting shorter and with some cooler weather to move in next week we should start to see begin their fall transition to shallow flats and back into the creeks and bays.
White Bass and Yellows: We didn’t spend any time this week specifically fishing for them we did catch a few along the ledges on lipless crankbaits while bass fishing.
Crappie and Bluegill: No report as we haven’t fished for these critters.
