It won't be long till the schools of baitfish return to North Bay and South Florida and our Fall fishing takes off.. As of this date we are still in a summer pattern of high heat and warm water. Baitfish schools that attract larger fish have been scattered one day and scarce the next. This has made fishing tough at times. Dolphin AKA Mahi Mahi had been available and easy to catch offshore of Miami for the past three months. Unfortunately that has changed in the past few days. The huge mats of Sargasso weeds and Sargasso weedlines have been pushed way offshore by our recent storms with west winds making it tough for most to reach them and the dolphin schools that are feeding in and around them. South Florida fishermen enjoyed some of the best dolphin fishing in recent memory during those past three months. Some of my clients and family members did get in on the action. When I wasn't looking for dolphins offshore of Miami I was fishing in Flamingo where snook and redfish have been very cooperative. We had a 17 pound redfish during one of those trips. He was a monster for Flamingo. North Bay fishing was been fair with sea trout available one day and then very scarce the next. This will change in just a few weeks once water temperatures drop a bit and the big baitfish schools return to the bay. I also had some time to spend with my family and friends during the past few months. My wife and I and my cousin and his wife spent a few days in Islamorada and had a great time. Then it was off on a cruise to the Caribbean, always a blast. After that a week in Key West with my family! All good times!

Miami Fishing Forecast:
Summer is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. With water temperatures rising sea trout and snook will start their spawning seasons. Bigger fish and bigger numbers of fish! Spanish mackerel, bluefish and kingfish are heading north for the summer. As they pass the Miami area they always provide a months' worth of action. Big jack crevalles will be chasing baitfish schools in North Bay and big tarpon will be stealing baits intended for other fish. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park we will see the return of all of the migratory birds as they fill the park and make unbelievable sunrise pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, snapper, sea trout, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as e exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for.
