  • Miami Fishing Report - FL

Fall is here and because of Hurricane Joaquin we have had thousands of baitfish move into our area. Pilchards, Spanish sardines, silver mullet, finger mullet and black mullet as well as flying fish and ballyhoo. Following this baitfish along the beaches and out into the ocean have been Spanish mackerel, bluefish, jack crevalle, king mackerel, dolphin, blackfin tuna and sailfish. In our bays we have had mackerel, bluefish, sea trout, small tarpon and snook, barracudas, snapper, grouper and ladyfish feeding on the baitfish schools. In Flamingo redfish, snook, tarpon, tripletail, snapper, jacks, ladyfish, sharks and sawfish are being caught.

If your not fishing now then you are really missing out at an opportunity top have an outstanding day on the water.

    RECENT CATCHES:
I fished with my wife Dana offshore of Haulover Inlet looking for dolphins and we had a great day. 15 dolphins to 22 pounds, tripletail and more small jacks then you could imagine. All caught on Rapala Skitter Walks and Hookup lures tipped with Gulp soft plastics.

Longtime friends Ralph and Terry joined me for a day on the water fishing for Dolphin offshore of Haulover Inlet. Fishing with Rapala Skitter Walks and Gulp baits tipped to a Hookup lure we caught 18 dolphin to 16 pounds.

Fred, Dave and Benny fished offshore of Miami and Biscayne Bay and caught dolphins, big barracudas offshore and sea trout inshore.

Jordan Diecheck fished North Bay and he caught sea trout on Rapala Twitchin Raps.

Alex and Steve struggled in North Bay. Lost of bait but nobody biting. It could have been the huge amount of boat traffic that day kept the fish from biting.
Bryan, Liza, Rob and Shea fished Flamingo for a half day and caught snook, redfish and a giant sawfish. The fish were caught using Hookup lures tipped with live pilchards and pinfish.

Neil and his son Josh fished Flamingo for a half day and caught snook, redfish and lost a tarpon. The fish were caught using Hookup lures tipped with a live pilchard and pinfish and pinfish fished under a Cajun Thunder float.

    Miami Fishing Forecast:

Fall is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. With water temperatures rising sea trout and snook will start their spawning seasons. Bigger fish and bigger numbers of fish! Spanish mackerel, bluefish and kingfish are heading north for the summer. As they pass the Miami area they always provide a months' worth of action. Big jack crevalles will be chasing baitfish schools in North Bay and big tarpon will be stealing baits intended for other fish. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park we will see the return of all of the migratory birds as they fill the park and make unbelievable sunrise pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, snapper, sea trout, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as e exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for.
