  • Lake Oconee Fishing Report - GA

LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, LIGHT STAINED UP THE RIVERS THE MAIN LAKE AND RICHLAND CREEK CLEAR, LOW 60’S

Bass fishing is fair. The lake is full and a heavy stain up the rivers clear on the main lake. There is an early morning top water bite around wood and docks in the coves and creeks off of the main lake. A buzz bait will draw most strikes. The best bite is on small crank baits fished around the same wood and docks. Use your Lowrance to locate the large schools of bait in the coves and pockets. Start at the mouth of the creeks and pockets and work your way to the back. If there is no bait around, move to another cove. A white spinner bait fished around any rip rap will also put extra fish in the boat.

Striper/Hybrid report by Mark Smith of Reel Time Guide service. Phone 303 803 0741 or email at reeltime@bellsouth.net

Striper and hybrid fishing is good. Use your Lowrance to locate the large schools of bait and the stripers will be close by. Live bait is the best way to put fish in the cooler. Over the past week down lines have been the best producer. Shad and Shiners are working equally well. Most of the fish are between 10 and 20 feet deep. Most of the fish are from mid lake to the dam.

Crappie fishing is good. Use your Lowrance to locate the schools of fish in the timber in the mouths of the major creeks. When you find the fish drop a minnow down. Spider rigs have been the best producer.

Make sure you stop by Sugar Creek Marina and pick up your spoons and all your tackle needs. You can also book your Crappie and striper trips with Reel Time Guide Service at 404 803 0741 or reeltime@bellsouth.net
