I've enjoyed the outdoors and fishing for as long as I can remember. It was a way of life and still is to this day. Now I run my own guide business and fish tournaments across the country. If your looking for a good, laid back, fun time on the water or some serious learning give me a call or drop me an email. I fish Kentucky and Barkley Lake along with winter trips on Lake Okeechobee.
Well after the 2nd warmest November on record for Florida we finally got our first major cold front last Sunday. This ushered in some much needed cold weather but some unneeded strong winds and rain showers. Our water temps have finally come down into the low 70's which will give the bass and crappies the push they need to move into the grass lines and backwaters. This is not to say we haven't been catching some great numbers of fish along with some really nice quality. Most of these catches have come on shiners on the outer edge of heavy cover. Our artificial trips are yielding some descent catches just nothing real big yet as the majority fish haven't moved in yet. We are pitching Big Bite Baits stick worms on Sunline SX braid on a Powell rod when the sun has been out and the fish are tight to cover. In the early morning and cloudy periods we've used moving baits like an Outkast Tackle swim jig fish fast bugling the top of the water and the strike are absolutely ferocious and very addicting when they're on it.
