  • December Starts with a Bang! Big Okeechobee Bass!

John Holz from Pa. with 2 Big Okeechobee Bass. The water levels are dropping which urges the Bass toward the outer edges of the cover. Water temps are in low to mid-seventies which are ideal for a shiner fishing bite. Waves of bass are moving from the main lake into the outer edges of the littoral zones, as the fish move in to pre-spawn they are looking for a quick easy meal to build up energy for the long spawning ritual that is ahead. A few of our bass spawned on the last full moon phase, but the huge majority of our bass are just starting to get into the shallow cover areas, throughout the winter/spring months the bite will continue to build. As the full moon phase in December approaches look for large numbers of small fish to precede the wave of large trophy bass that will follow them to spawn. This pre-spawn, spawn and post spawn pattern will continue from now until late spring. If you haven't experienced Lake Okeechobee you are missing out on the best bass fishing experience in the U.S.
