I've enjoyed the outdoors and fishing for as long as I can remember. It was a way of life and still is to this day. Now I run my own guide business and fish tournaments across the country. If your looking for a good, laid back, fun time on the water or some serious learning give me a call or drop me an email. I fish Kentucky and Barkley Lake along with winter trips on Lake Okeechobee.
The Big O is healthy, alive and well pumping out plenty of numbers and quality fish. This weekend ahead of the New Moon is always my favorite time to fish. Many anglers put a lot of emphasis on the full moon spawn but the new moon can be as good if not better and many time doesn't bring the sluggish bite the week after which is very common with the full moon bite. We've enjoyed some cooler nights helping lower water temps giving more fish the push to move from the main lake into the shallow grass areas to proceed with their annual spawning process. As usual the live bait shiner bite has been strong and catching our biggest fish. The artificial bite is getting better each day with lots of fish in the 2-3lb class being caught. Big Bite Baits trick sticks and BB kickers have been a great 1-2 punch. The BB kicker is a great topwater swimbait that will catch those actively chasing fish. If one blows up and misses or the bite gets slow pitching a trick stick texas rigged with 4/0 gamakatsu round bend worm hook and 3/16oz Bag5Baits tungsten pegged on #30 Sunliine SX1 braided line will get bit. The crappie (speck) bite is shifting into high gear as they have moved into the Kissimmee grass and reeds to begin their spawning ritual also. Weather using a rod and reel combo or just a collapsible cane pole I rig it with #10 yellow braid and a 1/16-1/8 jig and you can't go wrong. The looks to only keep getting better if you haven't already give us a call and set up your trip of a lifetime.
