I've enjoyed the outdoors and fishing for as long as I can remember. It was a way of life and still is to this day. Now I run my own guide business and fish tournaments across the country. If your looking for a good, laid back, fun time on the water or some serious learning give me a call or drop me an email. I fish Kentucky and Barkley Lake along with winter trips on Lake Okeechobee.
First sorry for the delay between reports it's just been crazy busy guiding this year. This obviously a good problem to have and generally means the fishing is good. It has been an a very good bite overall this year for both the Bass and Crappies (specks). We've used a two prong approach for our crappie trips using a cork and minnow set up in the open water areas and vertical jigging the grass. Each one has it's time and place and some days one is better than the other you've got to let the fish tell you what they want. As far as bass fishing the wild shiner bite has been the most consistent bite as usual. Though we have had some descent days throwing artificial baits. Numbers wise we've caught them well on the Outkast Tackle swim jig with a Big Bite Baits cane thumper swimbait trailer and the Big Bite Baits BB Kicker swimbait swam on top of the water this thing draws some awesome explosive bites. We are throwing both of these on a 7'-3'' Powell Inferno rod and 50lb Sunline SX1 braid. When we need to slow down or want to punch some heavier cover we opt for a Big Bite Baits craw tube or trick stick. We pair the craw tube with Bag5Baits 1-2oz tungsten wgt and a 4/0 Gamakatstu heavy cover fippin hook. While we pair up the trick sticks with a 3/16-3/8 tungsten wgt and a 3/0 worm hook. While punching I opt for the Powell Max 3D 806 punchin rod and the stick worms I use the Max 3D 736.
